News Log:
March 2007: The new album will hopefully soon be finished so that we can press it and sell it to the world! please watch this site carefully as we will release some samples as soon as we have them!
November 2006: The MESH support act gig has officially been confirmed, we are really glad with this oppertunity to play with MESH and stand on the grand stage of the P60 venue. Another piece of good news is that the vocal recordings are finished also, we are now waiting for a first master and we will most possibly be going to present the new album with the MESH concert.
Oktober 2006: A few things have been going on these last few months, we've been working on the album and we hope it will finish soon, but more importantly a few gigs have come up, firstly one at the Terminal Festival in Amsterdam on the ship MS Stubnitz. The second one being the fact that we are honoured to open as the support act for MESH on january 19th 2007.
Junu 2006:
The album is slowly but surely getting there, we are currently hoping to release it somewhere next month, our best guess will be that it will be released around the 25th or so. Btw. we've registered with the website Vampire Freaks where we registered a band profile, if you've got a VF account, add us as your friend. We are also on myspace.
April 2006:
A lot has happened and is going to happen, firstly we are going to visit the studio this weekend to record our fourth album, this album will see some new recordings of older songs but also a lot of new material!!! this album will most likely be pressed. As soon as we know the release date we will make a online reservation form so you can e-mail us.
And we have just confirmed our first concert in Germany, this will be at the Ice Age Festival in Mainz, held at November 4th this year. Where we will play with: Dusch wij zullen spelen: Bloody dead & Sexy, Joy Disaster & THE COLD.
March 2006:
We've just had a confirmation that we will be playing as a support for the legendary band Cinema Strange. They will be playing in the Netherlands on the 28th of May. For more information I wish to point you to the website of the venue where you can view a little promo text (Dutch) and where you can reserve your tickets.
Januari 2006:
We've just added two live video's from the Summer Darkness Festival Gig last summer, we hope you enjoy them. Just go to the Video page.
Firstly we want to wish you all the best for the new year. As for news about the band we can say that we are currently working on a new album which we want to release as soon as it is done, so keep your eyes and ears open for more information on this subject.
September 2005:
T-shirts are done! click for a preview!
We have now uploaded ALL official albums/demo's, we hope that you will enjoy our music and share it with the rest of the world, we will be thankful if you do!
We have a small change of line up for the upcomming concert at the Summer Darkness Festival. This is due to a double booking on part of the drummer. So instead of the regular drummer Edwin Westerink we have Walter van der Ent as a substitute. We have practised with him and are confident that the gig will be great, so come and see us!
June 2005:
Live! Live! Live!
Two dates to anounce:
12th of
August 2005: Ekko, Utrecht, at the Summer
Darkness festival. We will play with O'lenk and some other band tba.
17th of September 2005: Checkinn, Findel, Luxembourg, with Superikone
and Joy Disaster. And yes, this is exactly a year after our first Luxembourg
gig. Edwin Hofman left his "Radio4" shirt at the hotel that time,
and hopes to pick it up this time.
April 2005:
Some short updates:
- Paul, our singer, has become the father of a daughter which he and his girlfriend
named "Stella". Rumours that this will also be the title of the
new album are unfounded.
- People from "reflections
of darkness" asked Pieter some questions. The questions and the answers
can be found here.
- Currently we are working on 9 new songs. We will probably add one or two
more, and than start working to recording the little buggers. Workingtitles:
Evening land, Snoeshaan, Fransiscus, Dooie vis, Nevada counterstrike, Lighthouse,
Ghost truck, Siegfried and In the meadow. We aim for an autumn release for
the new album.
February 2005:
We had big fun playing the Goudvishal together with The Cold. The show went
well, despite Pieter's bass giving the ghost. Fortunately we could use one
of the basses from The Cold, so we could play our show after all. Thanks to
Alexander for that! We also played one new song called "Evening land"
which did well!
Playing was good and fun, and some people agree with us, given the review
in Gothtronic magazine.
Read it on our review page!
January 2005:
Busy, busy, busy. We are working on some new tracks. We got six new buggers already. Some titles: "Evening land", "Cowboy Nevada Joe counterstrike", "Snoeshaan", "Ghost truck", "Heart of the woods" and "Siegfried". Some of those will probably pop up in coming live shows. Speaking of which:
Saturday 5th February 2005, we will play at the "Nachtschade" party at the Goudvishal in Arnhem. We will play with our German friends from The Cold, so come along, and bring all your friends for a nice evening of coldwave, new wave, dark wave and good music in general.
July 2004:
More live fun! We will play at JC The Bunker in Gemert (near Eindhoven and Helmond), on the 21st of August. It is a festival with a bunch of other bands, so if you like live music, just come along, have a drink and check out the bands. Program: A well, fuck the program, here is the nice flyer:
We play at 21:30 and we will play a full hour! Yes, we have done that before, and managed to come out alive, so no worries!
April 2004:
We decided to put up "The dune of the mill" in 192 kbs mp3, including artwork on our website. Go to the Music section, and download away! We removed the downloads to "Micro" and "The longfield battle" because of the latter's poorly production. We want to sound at our best, offcourse! Anyone interested in our older releases: drop us a line, and we work something out.
The show in Utrecht went very well! We really enjoyed playing there and the show went very well. Special thanks to Rene and Rudi for doing the sound, Kees for organising, Tivoli and to Cold for lending some stuff, and being nice and great guys. For some pictures of that night to remember: Check out the photo section! Unfortunately, the first edition of our "The dune of the mill" demo-album was sold out. Lots of people asked for it after our show. We will be making a new batch in the coming weeks, so everyone still eager to get their own copy: Be patient!
We also received a bad critic of our demo-album in Fret magazine. It seems the guy who wrote it, thinks we are mediocre musicians. Yes, we are, and we know it. We are not Dream Theater! We are Fertile Reality. We made us a little review section: click here
March 2004:
www.fertilereality.com is now online. However, this is a totally other site, with lots of chitchat, rabbits and funny things. Check it out! This site will function as the official site, and the other as the other official site, with a strange twist. Whats up? you will say. Well, we don't know either! At least it is nice to have two official websites, so there you go.
We also write a new song entitled "Heart of the wood" for our upcoming album, which we hope to finish and record faster than "The dune of the mill" took us. Watch the skies (and both websites) for news!
Two reviews of "The Dune of the mill"! And both favourable as well. Read the review from funprox here, and the review from Gates of Elizium here.
Two possible gigs
have come up, both late summer/autumn:
Friday 17 September: Still unknown
location, Luxemburg (our first international gig!)
Friday 29 Oktober:
Wolweze, Leeuwarden
Both shows stil to be confirmed.
February 2004:
Great news! We
get to play as one of the opening bands for The Mission on wednesday
the 14th of April, at Tivoli, Utrecht. Doors 19:30, first band (most probably
we) at 20:00. Be on time! Other opening act is Cold.
We came up probably third at the Rob Acda awards in Haarlem. We congratulate
Halifax with becoming first. Here's what the jury said about us:
"The music of Fertile Reality comes directly from the eighties. One should think they only make this kind of music in England. The voice of the singer matches the music very good. The band practiced a lot, and that can be heard, but it sounds very studied this way. itcould be more raw. Though not entirely convincing, the melodies give a nice start. It doesn't get boring, but it isn't really imaginative. The presentation is a quite stiff, but fits the music. The charisma of the singer is OK, and his little dance is commandable. Show and compositions need some work, but if New Wave gets to become a hype again, there are certainly chances for Fertile Reality."
January 2004

It took some
time, but "The dune of the mill" is finally finished. 11 tracks
in just under 47 minutes. Same style as "The longfield battle" only
beter produced, and perhaps more fresh. Judge for yourself!
We will sell the CD for 5 euro's a piece. For those living far away, or very
very poor: You can also download the CD in 192 kbs mp3, along with the artwork.
You will have to print out the booklet/tray and burn the CD yourself, but
such is the punishment for living far away or being cheap. Our punishment
is swift! If your want to download the album: Just send an email, and we will
provide it to you though Soulseek (download the client at www.slsknet.org).
Report to the discography section for a tracklisting.
